Debuted in the showring at three weeks of age and was named Champion Foal at the Ft. Vancouver Dressage Show in Washington! Sired by Conteur, a dually talented black bay stallion ranked in the top 10% of dressage and jumping sires in Germany finished his stallion performance test as Reserve Champion title with the highest score in rideability. He was then leased for several years by the Hanoverian State Stud in Celle.
Conteur's own record in sport has always been convincing: As a youngster he won tests for young riding horses and placed in the 2001 Bundeschampionat Final in the class for three-year old stallions. In 2002 he took fourth place in the Warendorf Final in the class for four-year old stallions. Afterward he was trained to Grand Prix Level.
In 2006, Conteur and Anja Plönzke qualified for the Final of the Nürberg Burgpokal in Mannheim and also won several advanced Grand Prix level competitions. Conteur sired numerous champion foals at shows in Hesse, Hanover, Holstein and in Rhineland and his offspring were awarded premiums all over Germany, including a good number of State Premium mares. At the 2005, his son Con Amore received a premium ranking at the Hanoverian stallion licensing and was sold at auction to British Olympic Team rider, Emma Hindle, for 190,000 Euros ($250,000+US.). Contador is closely related to Con Amore, as Con Amore's dam, SPS Pia, is also the maternal grandmother of SPA Weltmeyer's Song! In 2006, Conteur's son Curator became the Reserve Champion Stallion of the Hanoverian licensing in Verden and was sold for 300,000 Euros. Four other sons were also licensed. All in all, eight sons have been licensed so far and sold for an average price of 120,000 Euros.
His daughter Chirara was the most expensive horse at the CHIO Auction in Aachen, selling to England for 240,000 Euros. In October 2007 he again hit the bull's eye: His son Cristobal Colon was the second most expensive horse in the collection at the Hanoverian Elite Auction, sold with a price tag of 230,000 Euros. Chiara qualified for the Bundeschampionat where she took third place in the qualifier for the Final. Under her rider, Geertje Heese, she also won the Rhineland Dressage Horse Championships in the class for 6-year old dressage horses.
Weltmeyer's Song's production record is outstanding. Her first foal, EM Frangelica, was the highest scoring Hanoverian mare in the USA in 2008. She was also #3 in the USA in USDF Materiale Classes for three year old dressage mares. Her Sandro Hit son, San Dante, is an outstanding stallion prospect and is winning in dressage classes now in 2010.
